Yeah going from Amiga to a shitty 286 was a hell of an eye opener.

It took years for the pc game industry to become as good as the 8bit era.

Doom changed everything of course.



Well, as a kid of the era that had an XT, it really kicked off with Wolfenstein on the 286. Doom changed a lot more, but everyone was pissed at the time if they couldn’t play Wolfenstein. Never felt that way for any of the previous games for the 64/128/XT.


Wolfenstein on the 1979/1980 ACE was a smooth experience. I remember the 286 not feeling on par. Doom was something else.


I'm assuming the parent is referring to the much later Wolfenstein 3D.
