Where do you get those effect sizes from?

I'm reading the graphs in the results section with the hazard ratios. All hazard ratios are above 1.5, which if I understand hazard ratio correctly means at least a 50% higher risk compared to regular population?

Am I misunderstanding hazard ratios? Or do you get the stats from elsewhere in the paper?



No, I think you're right. I screwed up and was interpreting excess burden as in excess of existing burden, not excess burden per capita. I will edit.
