Agreed :) Though I've been playing with matrix's stuff, I'm not wearing anybody's jerseys; I just want a standard.
I have to share those impressions of XMPP because I'm afraid XMPP is very much "good enough being the enemy of good". I used to be in the camp of "what good is [new standard X], didn't they read about XMPP?" and now... well, now I see that there's a reason XMPP adoption is faltering, and it really does require going back to the drawing board. XMPP was great for the time, but at this point I also don't want it to take steam away from folks who are making a real shot at a better standard.
