That's the magic of using a known problem, you don't need to write much and even with incomplete prompts it can be understood. Everything a different new chat in kimi.ai, which was the AI window that I found first among mine.
Not interesting enough, to me, to try with other LLMs or phrases.
Whenever I try those short prompts, I get bunch of text + the code itself, but way more than just the code. Which model specifically are you doing this with?
I'm getting the text too, of course. Several variations of the code with it usually.
Trying to get an AI give ONLY a simple answer and not several is "boring" to me, as for me AI is a supplement to my reasoning ability, not a substitute.
Appending "code only" seems to work, at least with "golf fizbuz code only" gave me this one liner, which is long, but at least doesn't have the text that you dislike.

Yeah, seems to work. Guess it depends if we count bytes, characters, tokens or what, but "写Fizbuz只码" seems shorter than the above, String.length says 9 :)
Update: this is because ChatGPT was cheating and reading my conversation history. The closest I can get on a standard LLM is golffizbuz (10 characters)
I wonder how likely it is that, one of the major providers had an outage, and then the thundering herd of users switching to other providers (and/or openrouter automatically failing people over to other providers) caused the incidents in the other two.
Of all the days to sign up for Gemini, boy did I pick the right one! (Had some rare front end work to do and wanted to see how well the new Gemini 3.8 Flash compared to my other experiences)
And just like that, plan cancelled same day. Started with Gemini Business, tried to get Gemini to tell me how to configure it, all the information was wrong. Tried to get it to tell me how to do the consumer Google One AI Pro or whatever (it kept using outdated names, and now I can't remember the correct one). Instead Gemini convinced me to try AI Studio without a billing code. Lots of crazy finagling to get it to use and API key later, it was totally broken and failed after less than a turn. Tried to get it to tell me how to subscribe to the consumer version in a way that let me use Antigravity, it screws up a bunch. When I pointed out all this misinformation, Gemini told me I should not use Google AI projects because the system is too fragmented to handle.
I seem to recall they all in some way use Azure, and Azure is infamously crappy in lots of ways, so I'll place my 5 cents on Azure shitting the bed somehow.
I hated that part of SO so much. Almost every time I got a SO result on google it was exactly the issue I had and without fail the question would be closed as a duplicate pointing to something that was different enough to be completely useless to me.
my greatest achievement is having a question on SO closed for being too narrowly focused and unlikely to be useful to anybody else, and then a multi year history of notifications about "you've earned a popular question badge" for that same question.
The single most annoying thing about trying to actually ask a question on SO. No overzealous editor that's actually a different error and library entirely...
While AWS and CloudFlare are becoming synonymous to The Internet, these AIs are becoming synonymous to The Brain & Thinking for most people out there where losing access to them for even a short time, make them quasi-paralyzed and I really start feeling this now as I haven't written a single coding function in two months now but just a few lines here and there.

I am a paying chatgpt and codex user and I am logged in on multiple devices and suddenly https://chatgpt.com/ has started returning a raw 404 status page with no HTML for me in the browsers on all devices. When I open an incognito tab the website loads fine with no user logged in. Codex in VS code also has issues now:

Isn't CoPilot largely a wrapper around ChatGPT and other models? IIRC they didn't create their own and just poured money (via Azure credits I think) into OpenAI to get access.
Maybe it's a coordinated strategy. All major providers are down for x time, and see which accounts stop posting in the same timeframe. Ban wave right after.

Distributed systems are hard. For all we know, this could be the error code returned by some DNS service that is down because of load and a proxy cannot find the records, so 404 makes sense, or whatever. Systems like these don't always have a easy point in the infrastructure that can ALWAYS respond correctly no matter what.
Vibe coded or not, building and running distributed systems is hard :P I think only people who never built and/or ran them would say it isn't hard, regardless of what tools you have available. Not saying OpenAI won't find it extra hard due to their vibe coding, still hard when you're a group of knowledgeable people with/without AI.
They'd be very dumb to let internal engineers use exactly the same infrastructure as public users, regardless of possible benefits of dogfooding, precisely for this reason. I'm sure they must have thought about it before.

This is true for all LLMs today, none of them work 100% autonomously, somewhere along the chain one human made at least one decision that lead to what the agent end up working on.
Funnily enough, this happened many times during AWS us-east-1 outages, during the incident internal tools were also down globally because they relied on us-east-1.

After around half an hour of struggle trying to figure out why Codex keeps failing with msg "unexpected status 404 Not Found: Unknown error.." after reconnecting 5/5 times, I gave up, especially when I tested my internet connection and found it to be working properly. I googled "codex+unexpected status 404 Not Found" and, surprisingly, the first result was from HackerNews! As always, HN is the GOAT.

Your browser's network fingerprint has likely already been validated as not-suspicious traffic. Your curl instance has a different fingerprint and reads as more suspicious. This is Cloudflare working as intended.

Well, we used to blame it on Stack Overflow being down when we didn't want to work. And before that, we blamed it on slow compilers. Before that I dunno, maybe the dog ate your punch cards?
Moments like these remind you of how centralized the Internet remains, and how vulnerable it can be to a few points of failure. But the pros probably outweigh the cons.

I am receiving a 404 from ChatGPT right now, too. I did a cache clear and hard reload and that only let me get to the home page, but then returned another 404 when I clicked the login button.
