You've just described the media experience. When I was a kid I spent so much time just flipping through channels. The same activity today is a vastly different and inferior experience. Modern televisions take forever to change channels.



It seems like all home technology adds friction and inscrutable failure modes in order to gain functionality/flexibility.

"Smart" seems to mean "powerful but complicated and frustrating."

I get the functionality benefits. I just don't want to pay the friction price.
