If that was true, the various computer companies wouldn't spend billions on advertising to C-suite types, and fleets of salespeople to woo them.

Clearly you weren't there, or you'd know executives paid extra for the IBM brand because "nobody ever got fired for buying IBM."


I am not saying the company is going to buy a big sales contract from Acer. But they aren’t trying to outfit their secretaries with top of the line computers. They are going to go to Dell and buy the cheapest thing that will meet their needs - barely.


I have had given laptops with regular HDD for consulting work back in 2018, when SSD were already mainstream, because the company in question was using refurbished hardware for contractors.

Ah, they also only had 8 GB, dual cores.
