The world's first: WAYMO DDOS (twitter.com/rtwlz)

I know it's a joke, but: If you're all in the same place, it's not a "Distributed" Denial of Service. And if you order cars, they arrive, and you pay for what you ordered, it's not actually a "Denial of Service" either — cars for pay is literally the service Waymo is offering! It's more like (as the tweeter points out) "if a big concert had just ended."

Apparently the event pictured happened in July, even though the tweet is from October.

"The plan? At dusk, 50 people went to San Francisco's longest dead-end street and all ordered a Waymo at the same time.

The world's first: WAYMO DDOS

We didn't actually get in the cars. They left after about 10 min and charged a $5 no show fee. Waymo handled this well. I assume this isn't much different than if a big concert had just ended. Eventually, they disabled all rides within a 2 block vicinity until the morning "

Would be very funny unless you lived or needed to travel in that area

Same folks would entertain themselves putting random things on train tracks if the robotaxis were not available.

I guess I don't see the humor.

making emergency vehicles unable to access a street, very cool!

50 people standing together on a street is the polar opposite of "distributed"
