Android DHCPv6 Prefix Delegation Support Later This Year (googleblog.com)

I've been following this for a while and I really can't wrap my head around the need for this. Why can't android just request multiple addresses instead of requiring a full delegation? Why the hell would it need a /64 (18 quintillion addresses!)? This just seems so overengineered and a giant FU to everyone who just wants basic DHCPv6 support.

Isn't the minimum realistic prefix size you can request /64 so that devices can still do EUI-64?
