YouTube to Begin Asking Users for ID in the US (Age-Verification) (dexerto.com)

Isn't this basically forced data collection? So, when a new user creates an account, it will assign 'teen' status to that account. If that user wants to do normal YouTube activities, they have to submit their ID.

Uhg, this shit is going to ruin the Internet even more than it has already been ruined. Right now it's only asking people the AI determines might be under age, but how long will it be before they just force it on everyone?

"Age-verification" is going to be the ultimate tracking tool, probably enforced by law at some point, all justified as "protecting the children."

My Gmail account is about 20 years old. I guess I’m safe.
