The difference between the British to American transition and American to Chinese transition is that the first was between allies whereas the second is between arch-rivals. Then add to the mix that the waning empire is now run by a circus of angry old men pining for the good old days of war and manliness. I think we'll see a belligerent ex-empire making big problems for it's citizens and the world. Unless regular people put a stop to it.
