This isn't just trolling or good TV. It's doing severe and permanent damage to US foreign policy.

So what are you saying? We should just ignore what the president of the country does? Even when he is spreading vindictive malicious lies? Or advocating for policies that are in direct opposition to the values of the country (and in some cases, also the law and/or constitution)?

Trump is not given special treatment here. What he does gets reported just as any other President: Biden, Bush, Clinton, etc. In the 80s Reagan's leaked "we will begin bombing in five minutes" soundcheck joke attracted quite a bit of criticism "because the president should be more careful with his words".
