I wonder what people think about the claim that lead was actually introduced to prevent the Pogue carburetor from becoming viable?

If you read about it the consensus apparently was that it didn't actually work, however other articles claim that both Ford and the Breen Motor Company, as well as multiple auto dealers in Winnipeg, tested and publicly demonstrated it achieving 200mpg.

Of course people can claim all these words were wrong or made up, but has anyone in recent years actually tried to make it work?
