Generative AI closes off a better future (disconnect.blog)

Something rubs me the wrong way about this article.

Main stream music has long been dictated by statistical models powers by record labels. Performers have been performing music acts and buying songs written in Nashville cubicles for decades.

Photoshop has been generating fake content now for how long?

The person using photoshop in the day job, may still go home and paint with acrylic.

No matter how much soul is sucked out of art for the sake of content, we still will create art for the reasons we always have. To express ourselfs, make connections with other souls, or just to have a good freaking time.

Record labels and publishers and been pushing out soulless shit for decades.

There’s still people jamming at music festivals, scratching records, beating on buckets in the subway, playing hermonica, making comics, writing books.

It’s not something Gen AI can replace.

What Gen AI is replacing is the myth they sold to artist that their work has some type of monetary value, and the value that was portrayed was the value they decided.

I’m not saying peoples art does not have monetary value, just that they sold a lie that they would provide careers.

The only reason have the people in the world that are established content creators is because of social media and the data mining, and the art people sold to them in the form of data at the expense of using a free platform.

None if this matters because if people want to make art, they will, and someone will always appreciate it and maybe buy it.

People are afraid of losing authenticity, and career opportunities.

To say GenAI is killing art in any way, or killing human creativity is a downright lie.
