It can also be a matter of finding a good shop. There are a couple of electronics repair places near where I live, but they're kind of dodgy.

There was a person in my old neighbourhood who could repair practically anything electronic and for a reasonable price. Great person, too. Sadly, they passed away rather suddenly about four years ago.
