A device that is sending and receiving BT radio signals is not necessarily discoverable, it is simply using Bluetooth. Any scanner would be able to pick up on metadata such as BT MAC addresses, signal strength, and so forth. In fact, there are mobile scanning apps you can get for your smartphone that will display all that stuff, and for WiFi too.
