Worth mention the open source project Maestral: https://github.com/SamSchott/maestral

(an unofficial Dropbox client)

It has a horrifically long initial sync for me (hours of silence and no apparent activity), but yep. I do not miss the official client in the slightest after switching - it has been significantly faster and better-behaved in every imaginable way.

In particular, I no longer have to stare at Dropbox and wonder why it hasn't uploaded my tiny plain text file change for several hours. Which I've had to do regularly for the past couple years. Maestral consistently uploads within seconds.

Gets an upvote for me. Maestral has been efficiently syncing my Mac for at least 2 years now, through the whole no available M1 arm client and other Dropbox turmoil.

I've been using it since shortly before the M1 Max came out and I quite prefer it. No nonsense and it makes Dropbox function like I want it to (just a folder that syncs). I wish it has some better activity reporting (when I'm waiting on a large file to sync that I want to share I'm in the dark) but for fire-and-forget storage it's great.
