I strongly disagree with the advice given in this article.

Two main reasons:

   1. This is essentially advice someone who puts his career ahead of everything else that matters in life, i.e. I'm happy to eat shit as long as it advances my career. If that's what you really want from your life, more power to you, but that's probably not for everyone.

   2. Not everyone will have the skill level to fit that profile but if you happen to have been gifted with the luck to work on stuff for which you are truly passionate, you will both tremendously enjoy going to work every day *and* advance your career effortlessly.
This article sounds like a recipe for early onset depression. Everyone will have to regularly perform shitty, unpleasant work in their career, but unless you balance it with some amount of creative, fun and rewarding work, you're going to be miserable, and by way of that, not be very performant.
