A poor African American will get 20 years in jail for possession, but a rich white kid will get a year or two for killing someone in a DUI. That doesn't even take into account the corporations that have made decisions that resulted in many people dying but that never faced jail time.

I think this is a very important point. When the rule of law continuously fails there needs to be a measure that strikes fear into those that disregard it.
