It looks like you can only upload code, and you aren't allowed to write any files, which means that your bot can't be self-improving between matches. Which IMHO is half the fun of an AI contest.
Or am I missing something?

You could run the contest locally and have the bot incrementally improve itself.

But then you're adapting against yourself, or some limited set of demo bots. It's not the same as out in the wild.
