Distribution by compound keys and rebalancing when configuration changes (e.g. a new node is added) are features I would consider essential in the core product. Long-standing commercial competitors are doing this and it's really only the last small gap I can see to Citus superseding them.
You can use Azure Arc[1] to run Citus on AWS EKS without having to manage everything yourself. Even though it's not quite as managed as Citus on Azure, it's still a quite lot easier than setting up a whole production cluster yourself.
