The only thing more disturbing than running large segments of our economy on Excel and VBA would be running large segments of our economy on some untested Rust or Haskell library.

If it's "shit" but it "get[s] the job done well enough" is it actually shit just because it's not being a Kubernetes cluster?

The "shit" part in excel is that there are very limited tools for automated testing and verification.

There's no simple or standard way to tell that line 1138 of a 10k+ line excel sheet has a typo in the formula.

Or check whether Excel has "helped" and changed some numbers to dates without telling anyone.
