Or you know there's this thing called eMMC that's mostly pin compatible with SD cards and yet provide fast, resilient and cheap storage.


I had devices with eMMC and can't remember any of them being "fast" and "reliable".


Fast and reliable can be relative, but most SBC systems with emmc get 2-3x the IO performance of an SD card.


I believe the reason they are “eMMC” than “eSD” is because they can’t be certified for SD specs.

MMC and TransFlash at this point is a synonym for SD Card when someone cannot refer to them for license/certification reasons.
