But, from time to time, when overtaking a long truck on a uphill road, you'd really like your car to work for you (as in "I need power, just for a few seconds, but I need it now!"), and not against you (as in "Please, if it is not too big an hassle for you, would you mind to try and rev the engine up a bit? Take you time, sure, but... that hairpin turn is getting closer and closer!").
