I made the switch from mac and windows to linux desktop in 1998 when you could blow your video card with an install. Now linux desktop is more stable and effective than ever. For those apps that only run on windows for me I am able to use wine. Ubuntu studio comes with all the tools I need for various digital media production for $0. Now with the coming raspberry pi pro the cost of moving to linux desktop is going to drop even further.
