I've accidently downmodded once or twice in the past something that I intended to upmod. I compensated by upmodding another comment by the user I agreed with. I suspect the same has happened to me, as I can find no reason for a downmod of this, at one point it was downmodded to zero: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=93671
