But I have to say the article name is a little overbearing. USB serves the same purpose parallel ports originally did plus more. Yes, devices designed for the parallel port might have trouble playing with modern hardware, but you're just as likely if not more to have drivers that don't run on modern operating systems and are closed source so you can't do anything about it.
