Yeah, homeopathy works due to the placebo effect and further boosted by people that subscribe to the anti-allopathic or Western medicine religion. I think it should be studied similar to how people go to Godmen for healing and report success stories - placebo effect + religious faith / belief.

Infinite Jest seems excessively long and I haven't worked up the motivation to read it yet, but his short stories / essays in Consider the Lobster are excellent, including the titular story which is about a lobster festival in Maine. And looking at the comments in this thread, seems like he had some kind of fascination for fairs and other touristy things.

People on IG and TikTok are creating shows of their every day life. While they may want to be stars, those around them brought in to create the clip, surprised / accosted into reacting at home or on the streets, etc., are exactly like Truman from the movie.

Nothing about Trumans life is equivalent with social media influencers besides filming their lives in an intrusive way. Someone earlier said it was fantastical, which implies a sort of positivity to the fame and Truman's situation.

Truman lives as a captive, in a false world controlled by a corrupt evil person. Influencers have agency and awareness of their choices.

Truman was a prisoner being abused since being a child even to the point of almost being murdered to maintain control as he discovered the truth and tried to leave.

Maybe we are all Truman once the general public realizes the extent of the surveillance state and associated psychological control which is similar to the movie.

There is a great episode of Analyzing Evil on YouTube that takes a close look at Cristof's character as well.

Most likely the real reason is that articles with "experts say" in the headline performs much better than "some experts say" or "some experts wonder if".

The underlying reason for the higher CTR is that most readers want to engage with articles that are more certain than less and their inability to fill in the unstated uncertainty gets exploited.

I am surprised they emphasize "development of the cognitive functions required to excel in soccer" but not physical development from meat (and hence higher protein) consumption

> and hence higher protein

There are a ton of professional athletes who don't eat meat and apparently get plenty of protein.

> There are a ton of professional athletes

How many can you name?

Or, since that would be anecdotal: what surveys have been done of professional athletes' diets?

And if there are any, is the percentage of vegetarians higher than a comparable group in the same age bracket?

but that doesn't change the fact that meat is a rich source of protein which is beneficial for physical development

Sure: some athletes get a lot of protein that way, and others get a lot of protein without eating any meat. It's beneficial for muscle-building either way you do it.

It’s a lot easier today with the wealth of information and foods, particular for professional athletes.

> dearth

I think you mean wealth right?

Yes! Thank you. Fixed.

Some sign-on feedback -> You have a lot of features listed I might want so I thought I'll check it out. I stopped once you said I need to "register" or "login". If I could have tried it out, I might have if it had seemed worth it.

Hi Ravi, thanks for the feedback! What do you mean? Like let you try saving some bookmarks without signing in or signing up?

Yep - Craigslist does not allow scraping and blocks IPs sucking up content. Even AirBnB created their initial listings by scraping Craigslist though. Guess you can do it until they notice - and hopefully by then you have enough traffic of your own.
