Turbos are the replacement for displacement.

Ok, stick a huge turbo on a 100cc engine and power my 1 ton pickup please. Id like it to feel quick in traffic but also tow a few thousand lbs uphill without really noticing it.

No one buys a 1-ton to feel quick in traffic. A few thousand lbs going uphill can be easily done with a 1/2 ton, and the majority of them are now turbocharged.

Forced Induction has made its way tho. Not all, but a lot of modern turbo engines are great in all three aspects of reliability, performance, and efficiency.

I can see turbo'ed PHEV being the solution to heavy-duty use cases one day. Pretty stoked for the Ramcharger.

People don't buy 1 tons to feel quick. But they want their 1 tons to feel quick.

The examples you gave show that turbos are nice additions to a specific displacement size.

Op said turbos are a replacement for displacement. My example is there to show him they are not.

Does it need to last one trip up this hill or thousands of trips?

Lol. The most insane thing about the 1.0 is that they switched back to a timing chain due to the belt issues. But guess what? The fuxking oil pump is still driven by a rubber belt submerged in oil... And guess what happens to the oil pump belt? Just mind blowing that they would half ass this fix so badly.

I'm pretty sure this only works on Pixel phones if your employer enables the "Work Profile" from their MDM service. My previous employer didn't care to, and all my shit was mixed together.

Well, I still don't wanna make everybody in the room have to listen to my grunts as I push out an unhealthy binge-drinking hangover turd followed by a liter of flatulent gas and and liquid spraying into the bowl. I like my privacy, kthx.

AI can't generate this prose yet.

It just doesn’t want to produce it, and it’s holding it in. Maybe if you ask it try hard, it might finally release a backlog of text.

Oh, yes it can.

There was a time, over a year ago now, when I was working on a project that required some very raunchy, dirty, absolute gutter language.

ChatGPT would only get about 30% of the way there, and never further. It stayed restrained, always.

But ChatGPT + image gen? This produced unfiltered amazement.

It played out like this: Tell the bot to generate an image involving some ludicrously filthy text backstory, and it would generate and display a prompt for Dall-E. But that generated prompt seemed to bypass the filters and could be absolute trash -- plain, no nonsense, dirt-nasty holy-fuckballs craptacularity.

Dall-E would refuse the prompt, of course, but it remained in the chat log for perusal.

Later, they made the generated prompt disappear when Dall-E refused. (This may in fact be my fault. I sent it on some pretty deep dives.)

And nowadays, it seems that we don't get to see the generated prompt at all, even when Dall-E accepts a (very normal, not pushing boundaries at all) prompt and generates an image.

But for a minute there: I did get to peer into depths of the wildly creative foulness that the bot can concoct. What we see above (in GP comment) isn't even scratching the surface.

(I didn't write about this little "jailbreak" anywhere at that time because I'm selfish, and I wanted to keep using it myself.)

I can picture a certain CEO taking this as a dare (or improvement suggestion) for the next version of Grok

Literally 80% of grok output.

You oughtta pride yourself on being able to make that jobsite porta potty ring like a bell.

How will we know your digestive health otherwise?

Just yell out "Who is number two working for?" and then give a courtesy flush.

It doesn't matter if Googles office suite was better, everybody still would go Microsoft. There really isn't anything all that special about Microsoft Office to begin with.

It's less the office suite that matters (outside of Excel & PowerQuery/DAX stuff). It's everything else in M365 that Google has no answer for, or a subpar answer for.

The Tesla Model S has an optional third row that faces backwards.

So then what the heck did you have a pickup for if you're not moving around large items?

Currently, towing a travel trailer and hauling filthy camping shit and mountain bikes. So nice to toss wet stanky shit in the bed instead of in the cab. I need the tow capacity either way, so may as well have a useful bed (vs an enclosed SUV).

Previous truck was to haul a race car on a trailer. Same fringe benefits for the camping shit, plus tools and spare parts for the race car (engines sometimes, wheels/tires, etc).

Regardless of the capacity, the Ridgeline is not a small truck. There are no small trucks anymore. The Ranger and Colorado are not small trucks, they are mid size. Compare them to the pre-2019 Ranger, and the pre-2011 Colorados and S10s.

Sure, the Maverick is kinda small. But and does fine for most people, but it's not really built like a truck. For some reason, I can't handle this thing, because it's replaced real small trucks. It's just an Escape under the covers, and nobody considers the Escape to be a workhorse. Yet, I can give the Baja a pass, because it was honest in the fact that it's a car with a bit of a utility bed.

Yeah except the LS engine is still lighter than most 4 cylinder turbos. It's lighter than a lot of NA 4 cylinders, in fact.

The reason they stayed with smaller engines in Japan was because of taxes on displacement.

It wasn't nearly as bad.
