Where are you sourcing your data from/what are you trading through?

I use Interactive Brokers for automated trade execution and as data source for real-time ES and VIX data. Data for the other indicators comes from a wide variety of sources. One of my favorites is https://fred.stlouisfed.org/.

That’s not true at all? There are companies like Levels who sell CGMs to non-diabetics to try and optimize their health.

In my experience, it doesn't seem to be a common occurrence. At least, I personally know no one doing that. YMMV, I guess. Also, it seems to me like a very bad idea to do that.

As a type 2 diabetic I used a couple of different glucose monitors and got a lot of benefit from them. I gave one to a friend who I thought had diabetic symptoms. First I tried to get him to go to a doctor but he wouldn't. But he tried the CGM and found numbers well into the diabetic range. Then he immediately changed his diet and started treatment. Not sure but I may have committed a crime.

What was the potential harm that was greater than the reward?

Potential harm is always the same - misdiagnosis and/or mismanagement.

It’s probably very low in the context of CGM and diabetes as the potentially harmful treatments require prescriptions.

Device prescription requirements are usually due to product labelling and the manufacturers application. There are OTC fingerstick glucometers and CGMs approved.

Accidentally diagnosing someone is quite different from someone healthy trying to 'optimize' their health, whatever that means...

Strong disagree, diagnosing chronic dysfunction is essential to optimizing health. There's a big difference between an optimal blood glucose range and one that triggers insurance companies to authorize treatment. If you only pay attention to the later it could cost years of healthy life.

It's like, not being obese enough for your insurance company to pay for medical intervention doesn't mean that your weight is optimal enough to enjoy a long retirement.

Bad idea how? It's expensive but not dangerous. Some people find the results interesting, and serious athletes have had some good results using them to optimize diet and training.

It’s far too situational to give a blanket answer. I run a 15 person startup, and my preference is product focused people because of the breadth they can cover. However, we have a number of people who aren’t that way and are just good developers, which is great. My sense would be the narrow/deeper technically a space is, the less preference there is for product focus, but again just my personal guess.

Where is the bookmarklet? I'm not using the browser extension for privacy purposes as well, but can't find the bookmarklet

Cant find it for the life of me. Here is the code.

    javascript:(function()%7Bopen('https://readwise.io/save?title='+encodeURIComponent(document.title)+'&url='+encodeURIComponent(location.href))%7D)()

I suppose this means that things that need a login to read won't be saved whereas with the extension it would be?

What brand do you take?

This is quite cool. One suggestion would be to have the pronunciation listed in addition to the kanji and audio (at least when I searched I didn't see it, so the only way to learn to pronounce is to use audio). Do you know of something similar for Chinese by any chance?

Sorry, I'm a little confused? The pronunciation is listed for every word; that's the hiragana next/on top of the words. (:

> Do you know of something similar for Chinese by any chance?

Alas, I do not. Maybe I'll make something like that in, like, 20 years if I'll ever be able to make a living off of this. (:

This assumes that you're power generation always matches demand through time. If you had a sudden spike at night that you don't usually have (like in Texas where people kicked on their heat unexpectedly) and you were using solar, the mismatch would exist and you wouldn't be able to meet the load.

Exactly. You need natgas peakers (that aren't frozen) or charged batteries to deal with this. Nuclear, wind and solar are all unsuitable for this situation.

What do you think of the claims of user "corty" elsewhere in this thread, who seems to say that nuclear isn't unsuitable for this situation?

The primary problem with nuclear is the fact that it's insanely expensive. If you're not running it flat out 24/7, then the cost per MWh goes up dramatically.

Of all the other energy sources, it's the only one where we have to put serious consideration into warning people not to dig up the waste, and how to keep them from doing it thousands of years from now.

Or turbines burning hydrogen.

Seems like the site is down. Looking forward to checking out out once back online though.

Sorry about that - went down earlier from the load! It is back up now if you would like to give it another try!

1) most have RSS (the three you mention all do or it's one jump to a site that enables) 2) most other social sites are themselves collections. If you got big enough, yes they'd mind, but not to start. Hopefully by the time they mind people are submitting to you anyway. 3) seems like a stretch, but ianal, given they expose RSS or APIs currently

What algo are you using to manage the trust system?
