Channel News Asia produced a really good documentary about Singapore prison: https://www.channelnewsasia.com/watch/inside-maximum-securit....

Introduction to Cryptography by Christof Paar: https://www.youtube.com/@introductiontocryptography4223. This is a great introductory cryptography course which is perfect to complement the great textbook from the same author.

I have been reading Matt' blog for quite long too. I read his post on his son condition but never really noticed if he really switch his academic careers for his son. I am pasting the really motivating video sharing the story [1] and a NY times article here [2].

I stopped reading his blog when we wrote about how to get tenure and completely omitted talking about all of his wife's stay-at-home work.

Can you explain why? What relevance does his wife's stay at home work have to someone else trying to get tenure? Do you think he doesn't appreciate his wife and that rubs you the wrong way?

In the similar spirit, I just discovered project that builts nand2tetris computer on a breadboard https://hackaday.io/project/185131-the-hack-computer-from-na....

Even if this is not the exact listing, I am still surprised to see the price can be as that high.

I was writing (almost) daily email when I and my wife were in long distance relationship during the time my wife studied for her master degree. It happened just in the early days of our marriage. It was the day before WhatsApp has video call feature and long time before zoom. The small daily email quite helping us to form the bonding. Couple o lf years ago I dumped the email into this blog http://www.dearwifey.com/.

I agree. The listing quality is good compare with other job boards.

Writing book is my another bucket list beside building a startup. Speaking about scope, writing book is still hard but seems more doable than startup.

I remember have skim your book, although I didn't read every pages. But as any good technical book and as you said, not everyone are having sufficient energy to average 60 hour weeks for 1.5 years. Put aside they are also a parent. :)

I want to be more present during children golden period time. I want to nurture their curiosity, problem solving and creativity, so that they can be better than me in their careers and life. Of course I want to continue to be present as they grow older too. But as they older the attention span needed should be not as much as before.

Yeah I think I should start with simple software side project and taking it slow but steady.

The upside to doing your own thing is that you set your own schedule and define your own "office hours".

This could mean that you can be there at the times you need to "be there" and work around that: like in the evenings when the children are in bed, and/or early morning if that's more your thing.

Nice point. I also understand age factor is a myth in determining business success, as presented by Ali Tamaseb in his book Super Founders. About finance, I am thinking to continue working hard and as employee while saving aggressively, have family time and start some idea experimentation part-time. Once the children older, then only will start something more focusely.
