This is the tougher route, without question, but I think it's a strong and bold move. If it's really what you're more passionate about then it's the right choice. Best of luck.

p.s. the launchgram acquisition makes even more sense now.

this is extremely sad to see. hopefully this report is exaggerated and not entirely true.

that said, the daily deal model is clearly broken.

Yes, and I'd argue the daily deal model never worked in the first place. Why? No real value add to small businesses.

The daily deal model was an experiment that went on too long, overfunded by delusional investors - some playing with other people's money - and media and social media hype.

You know what model isn't broken?

Positive cash flow businesses. :)

really strong words. thanks for sharing this. keep your chin up, the investors knew the risks of angel investing / venture capital. be proud that your gave it your all.

if you didn't take this risk, you would always look back and wonder what if. Ik that's cliched to high hell but it's true

still, a lot of consumers haven't even seen the iPad 3/4's retina display. i think it's a bigger deal for tech writers than it is for the majority of humans who will actually buy a tablet over the next year.

What this writer doesn't understand:

--not every single human has a 10" iPad, already. -- the iPad mini is a response to a different segment of the market that Apple was missing out on. -- the iPad mini is Apple's new iPod.

Just because this isn't made for tech writers doesn't mean that it won't add to Apple's revenues and it especially doesn't mean that Apple doesn't have anything else in the pipeline for brand new segments.

Has everyone forgotten about Apple TV already? Just last spring all of the major news outlets were reporting on it...

For Apple, leaking news like this makes sense for a few key reasons:

1) They obviously are eager to take another step towards complete vertical integration, giving them even greater profit margins 2) Apple made it known wanted to make their Macbook pros as thin as their Macbook airs earlier this year, but the (relatively) high TDP of intel's mobile chips would've scorched users laps. 3) It's an obvious message(and challenge) to intel that they have to do even better. Apple will likely continue their growth to the largest PC maker (if they aren't already) and Intel needs their business. They're giving Intel 5 years to show them something special.

Well deserved for Tesla.

They built the Model S from the ground up specifically to be an electric car. This means every engineering decision was made with the idea of optimizing the E.V. experience.

For instance, you know that notable 265 mile range that is one of its biggest selling points? Well that requires huge and extremely heavy batteries. But instead of this added weight being a disadvantage for the Model S, Tesla made use of it as it best could for an automobile -- it drastically lowered the center of gravity. This, in turn, gives it the excellent cornering ability that the car buffs are all talking about.

Regardless of what field you're in, this is a great example of turning your disadvantages into advantages. Great engineering.
