Got deep into interview with this company (3rd round) and they ghosted me. I’m starting to feel like I dodged a bullet

whole lot of Jesus in here

They must be travelling at over 80% the speed of light

your alimony and child support amounts should be tied to your income levels right? if so, you could see if your obligation can be reduced since you don't have any income. I think a lawyer would be good to have for this process but maybe not strictly required in the short term if you just need immediate relief from your support obligation.

> your alimony and child support amounts should be tied to your income levels right?

At the 30,000 foot level only. Usually, they are concretely set by a court at fixed dollar amounts, and you must petition the court based on changed circumstances to get them altered. OP reports doing so and failing. It may be the right thing at that point would have been to appeal that ruling (but appeals are not necessarily cheap), especially if the state has a strong objective rule that the decision did not comport with (some do, and rogue judges are a thing, especially when they have animus against a party, which “the party is a sex offender” might easily explain.)

My understanding is that in most states, getting alimony and child support payments lowered due to changed circumstances of the father is very difficult even with legal assistance.

You can petition the court once every 3 years or so, and they look at your average income over the previous 3.

He might just have to struggle with being in arrears for a few years if the current agreement was issued recently.

My goal isn't to stop providing for my children's needs. That $3k/month is their rent, food, clothing, and bills.

right but if some short-term relief helps you get back on your feet and out of the suicide groove, you are doing better for them long-term

+1

Learn the law in your state, figure out what forms you need to fill out yourself. I believe you file motions "pro se".

If you say you're as good as you are, figuring this stuff out for you should be easy, I understand the funk you're in.. but as you can see.. there are complete strangers rooting for you, and your family. Sometimes you just need to see things from a different perspective.

It's well-known that pandas are just large bunnies, though.

you always have CCs, and if you run out of those, you always have sysex

And we already know, as those are the hacks we use and have used for years. They're still limiting tho for the intended purpose.

And if you're not using CCs/Sysex in an ad-hoc way, e.g. if you can get VST vendors to agree on some semantics for those, then you've just built a new protocol layer on top of MIDI, only you did it as a kludge, with whatever was available as a "safety net for unknown stuff" from 40 years ago, and not a proper design...

This made my day. Absolutely magnificent! My hat's off to you sir.

Are people worried about the costs of cocaine prohibition these days? I expected this headline to be about meth or fentanyl

I gotta say, Bill Gates single-handedly owning the health infrastructure of the third world doesn’t put me at ease. This is a man who was ruthlessly capitalistic throughout his career, and hung out with a convicted rapist (Epstein) on a regular basis. At the very least, he’s an “ends justify the means”, willing to look the other way kind of guy. There’s no doubt the Gates foundation has done a lot for global health, but it’s too much political power for one flawed person to have.

> was ruthlessly capitalistic throughout his career

"was"?

I also cut my teeth as a preteen with qbasic, modifying Gorillas.bas :)

I had gotten ahold of a qbasic extender that somebody published along with a "learn games in qbasic" book. It was a TSR that would expose some extended functionality to the qbasic runtime environment, allowing a 320x200 8bit color mode that was really fun to play around in. Anybody else remember this TSR?
