Is there a concise industry-term for "amazing demo, terrible irl"?
Not saying this is one (the demo looks great). But the last 12 months of any AI/ML tools has been 1) demand powered by an amazing, over-hyped demo followed by 2) incredibly lackluster usage as people realize it was overpromised.
You can argue any product as a gap b/w expectation and reality, but the last year has taken it to an absurdity.
I'm not sure how you're certain it's 100% different.
Sure, we knew Apple was on the verge bc they were a public company with vetted financials. However, no one knows OpenAI's financial situation. We just know 1) growth was meteoric, 2) prices were dropped significantly when alternatives were available, and 3) they were almost always fundraising. Selling $1.00 of value for $0.50 also can lead to a meteoric rise as well.
I'm not saying you're wrong. But just don't know how you got such conviction.
I think that's what makes summaries so difficult for skimming news, like on HN.
For most professional use-cases, you kinda know what types of stuff you expect in a summary so you could possibly create templates. For example, internal calls are mostly around deliverables, due dates, blockers, etc. When casually reading, you don't know what you'll come across so getting a summary that really "hits" is difficult.
