> At the end, I'll have a single database of Telegram messages from the whole dataset. I'll be able to query it to, for example, show me all messages from Scot Seddon sorted chronologically. This will make it simple to see what he was saying in the lead-up to January 6, immediately after January 6, and then what he's saying about Trump these days, after he was re-elected.
There are more parts to come in this series, which is very clearly stated in the post.
If I claim to have evidence that you committed a crime, and announce that I will post the evidence later, should my claims be taken seriously, or dismissed?
Even if he's right (and I'm not saying he isn't), this kind of behavior is inexcusable (though completely expected) coming from a guy who calls himself a journalist.
I’m devastated by this. Being able to quickly capture todos and shopping list items, and then have them sync through Todoist, is one of the two or three reasons I’m still in the Alexa ecosystem. I suppose they’re in a “monetize or die” phase and the users are losing because of it.
I built the current and previous iterations of TorrentFreak’s WordPress theme (before ultimately leaving the WordPress consulting world five or so years ago). Ernesto was a gracious client and always full of ideas; easily one of my favourite folks to work with. Congrats on 18 years and may there be many more to come!
Yep, and the Breezometer homepage now redirects to Google’s map platform page (subpages still seem to work, such as https://www.breezometer.com/air-quality-map/air-quality/unit...) and they had previously announced plans to sunset the Breezometer app in September.
Breezometer is also the air quality data source for Apple Maps and I’m sure other weather apps too, so assuming the pricing is comparable there’s probably a decent business here just from existing customers.
The v1 devices never supported a real local API. The v2 devices like the Awair Element do have a local API built-in. It does have to be enabled via the app but it lets you hit the device's LAN address and get back real time JSON with the sensor data. Not to say they couldn't figure out a way to brick those devices in the future, but you could theoretically turn on the Local API and then firewall the devices to your network to prevent future firmware updates.
One thing I've learned over the years is that it's good to "own" your SSID, and preferably stick to pro-grade routers that let you configure local network addressing. As long as you stick to Internet providers that let you run their hardware in "bridge" mode, it means you don't have to set up new WiFi networks at all.
I wonder if there would be any merit to WordPress building native oAuth provider support into core? There are some plugins that do this, and WordPress.com offers oAuth provider support, but having it across the board would be cool. This would (hopefully) help mitigate situations like this.
Apparently the results of today's 400M Men's swimming individual medley were the lede for NBC Nightly News tonight... before NBC has even aired the race. Just when you thought they couldn't make things worse....
They live-tweeted the opening ceremonies, and today live tweeted events including that one.
I'm quite happy to see angry @replies. I don't anticipate them changing how they're doing things mid-games, but maybe they'll realize they made a mistake if every "Such and such just won the blank event!" gets multiple angry responses.
I wonder if they would have success by getting the product into community colleges and other two year schools (who might be particularly keen to save on Blackboard licenses). As students transferred out to larger four year colleges and were forced to deal with the mess that is Blackboard, they would probably be quick to talk up the (ostensibly) superior experience they had with Coursekit at their old school.
Interesting you mention community colleges. We beta tested Classhive (similar product that no longer exists) at a large public university, a medium sized private college, and a medium sized community college.
When we spoke with teachers and students at all three, I believe our feedback from community colleges was much better due to the fact that they are under-served in this space.
