I have gone through the same pain with BOA and finally I had to close my account last year. But the funny/upsetting thing is that even if I closed my account, BOA kept on sending monthly statement charging those monthly fees for several months. I had to keep ignoring it till they completely stopped sending those statements. I went to the local BOA office to complain and the Banker did not give a damn at all. I have a feeling he thought that a tiny customer who just transacts few hundred dollars a month can not affect the bottom line of the bank and ultimately his job. And during that time I kind of felt that sometimes the big bank can play a cruel joke and get away with it on tiny customer like us. You know what , I closed my account went ahead and opened my checking and saving account at a local credit union bank and I can't say how happy I am. Hey, it is your money. But watch out! some big banks are very good at ripping off small customers by charging in fees (nickel and dime, heck now a days they have started charging above 10 dollars forget about nickels and dime). As a small fish you are more vulnerable to big predators in the ocean. So beware. Keep eyes open.

Start with this. http://guides.rubyonrails.org/getting_started.html

Once you have some idea then you can go ahead with this. http://railstutorial.org

In addition, watch the webcasts

Nope. A place has to be a right amalgamation of good universities (where the talent will come from), with good transportation and basic infrastructure and the last thing comes 'weather'. Yes with lot of cash and political will power it might possible to start as it is with Startup Chile(startupchile.org). But the long term viability of the ecosystem has to be proven yet.

If you have a Bachelor and Master in Comp. Sc. then you should first give it a shot by trying yourself before entering to Dev Bootcamp. There are several amazing ruby on rails guides and resources which I think you will have no problem to follow putting some time and effort into it. Heck I even can understand ROR up to some extent being from Biotech and Pharma background. First go to railstutorial.org. and try yourself. If you feel you are not motivated enough to pull it off yourself then consider applying for Dev Bootcamp.

Thanks for the advice. I just thought there would always be other candidates in front of me with Rails professional experience, so I would always be at the end of the queue. The dev bootcamp would be my strategy for moving further in the queue, but I guess that's not the only way.

Sublime 2 for programming and coda for web development.

I have recently started using Sublime 2 and like it. It is light weight with tons of features. You can use several plugins used in textmate as well as other text editors.

And Coda I use for real time web development (it synchronizes the file to server in real time and you see the result right away)

Two classic books that you should read

1. Think and grow rich by Napoleon Hill. 2. Sidhhartha by Herman Hesse.

Extra read

3. The millionaire Fast Lane by MJ Demarco.

And so many others...

You could also use the money to buy your basic necessity expenses and deposit the money coming from your other sources to another account. I am sure you have some bills to pay (rent, food, groceries, laundry etc). Pay all these with that card and deposit the money that you are supposed to spend. The banks are getting notorious for charging a "monthly fee" and it is going up. So try to look for a credit union near your place for opening an account and as soon as the money on this account vanishes just go ahead and close it. Unless you want to put more than 8k in the account to waive the monthly fees, I do not see a point to keep this account. My 2 cents.

You perhaps will find yourself where you are in the application. By the way, the idea is cool. But does your algorithms advanced enough to distinguish between items that can be bought (commercials) compared to those can't (human face, nature photographs etc to example a few)?

Thanks for your reply. Yes, the algorithm would match against product images, so most likely faces and nature photographs wouldn't match any images in our product database.

Here is an example of what the ads would look like on our site dump.ly:

There's no link to buy Scarlett Johansson.

Yeah, if only...

I did not for following reasons.

1. I do not want to keep installing software on my system especially on my office computer.

Why not Google came out with a G Drive similar to Amazon where you do not have to install anything but still can upload and access all files?

2. And Google is late to the game. I have already 5 GB from Amazon and 5 GB from Dropbox and that will be enough for me for a while.
