Ok, so it's a tech demo. That doesn't change that it looks bad and uses an unreasonable amount of resources to do its thing. Their tech demo has shown that the tech sucks.

I thought Halo Anniversary was excellent, but it was a remake and not a remaster. They didn't just upscale the textures or run the game at a higher resolution, they made entirely new graphics assets for it (and music, but the new music didn't have a patch on the original soundtrack).

I would far rather look at the manual or a forum discussion, because then I know I'm getting something real. With LLMs, odds are decent that I'm getting something which doesn't actually exist, but it sure would be nice if it did.

I've had someone post a problematic ffmpeg command into a prompt to ask why it wasn't working. It didn't work so well. By the time that someone rejiggered their prompt, I had found the issue.

There's nothing healthy about holding on to a work grudge from 10 years ago and then dragging it out in public. That's toxic AF.

Corporate branding is nothing but an exercise in playing psychological tricks on people. None of it is actually distinct or important. But the silver tongued guys say it is, so people believe it even though it isn't true.

Because people are stupid enough to worry about many things which don't matter. This includes, but is not limited to, font choices.

That's the most retarded take I've seen in a while.

Nobody with any sense believes any of the hype. It's the boy who cried wolf effect: after years of improvement it still sucks and can't get work done, so why on earth would I trust in the future when the AI bros claim "no this time it really is good"?

We do live in that world. Encryption is not at all necessary for the majority of web sites out there. The practice you speak of is not commonplace and does not need active defending against.

ICE is tracking people on social media, and the only sign it's happening to you is when they show up to your door with guns and handcuffs. If they could track who was reading subversive content, they would. It's better we don't give away more information than necessary.

> A huge part of Trump’s success is convincing voters that everyone in politics is corrupt...

Trump didn't have to convince anyone of that. Voters already believed that, and have for some time. Trump merely had to speak to that widespread, preexisting belief.

In those cases yeah, 99% isn't reliable enough. I'm not going to tolerate having power down for 3 days out of the year. But in fairness, home automation is less critical than that so 99% reliability is still acceptable to me. I don't think LLMs are anywhere near that, though, nor is there any sign of them getting there any time soon. So it does concern me to use an LLM as the backbone of home automation.
