One of the few problem of nuclear is summer time water use. Combining solar with nuclear would be the best option in my opinion.

Nuclear plants, like most large thermal plants, are almost always located near large bodies of water and return that water downstream so it doesn't really matter?

It matters if people don't want to see the rivers full of dead fish, so last year there were already shutdowns because of heatwaves.

It does when you care about the environmental impact of your cooling (and also consider the fact that droughts are an increasingly severe problem).

It matters when the level of that body of water drops by a lot in summer and the water temperature rises at the same time. Add environmental laws (cooking the fish is discouraged), and your nuke plant needs to go into safety shutdown pretty reliably every summer.

Historically the biggest impediment to nuclear power has been incompetent construction management and project management. Incompetent is a strong word for it but nuclear power plants are the largest capital equipment purchases on the planet. Even modern so-called modular designs can't save poor project management, and learn as you go engineering.

That so mundane and should be easy to fix, right? That's why I bring up scale. Nobody has experience running projects that big. Some things are just too big to manage.

It really does not work like that, you start mixing everything and everyone up in a depressing blob after a while. I can't even remember the names of people i thought I loved or at least cared about. Compared with my last five years in a serious, committed relationship, its a night and day difference. To the next five years, and the ten after that hopefully.

I am putting the load bearing dog video on the example shelf right next to the load bearing (disproven) TF2_coconut.jpg

Sounds like you have no idea how dangerous is to put your hands around electric car batteries and how expensive certified electricians are. Without a mechanic that ALSO has an advanced expert certification for high voltage electronics, the blown BMS or contactor (500$) becomes a whole battery to scrap (20k). Then you add the 6 hours of diagnostics and labor on top of it. Electric vehicles are not an arduino circuit with a couple of led and an usb cable.

This illustrates why the battery really needs to be decoupled from the car. We do it for other electrical appliances like flashlights. The EV auto mechanic should optimize for removing and installing the battery. Batteries should be taken offsite to a speciality facility where High Voltage experts work on the batteries - repair, recycling, etc.

It sounds like you are the one who has no idea.

There are a few basic things you have to not do in order to work on an EV, basically the same rules as for airbag systems but with physically larger components.

No modern car is electrically simple, but they all do a pretty good job telling you where you ought to be looking.

He is correct. If you have no idea what are you doing with BEV, you can destroy the car and your garage without even realizing what has just happened.

This is flatly false. The HV operating procedures on cars add significant complexity and danger to working on them. In fact, any HV work will automatically add a huge chunk of labor hours to any work and is why anything touching the HV system instantly goes into the thousands of dollars as a baseline. We are talking hundreds of volts above fatal baseline and very high amps on accidental discharge. For comparison, its safer on your biology to stick a fork in 120VAC outlet deliberately than to make a mistake with HVDC.

I really hope you don't like alcohol or any kind of spice because historically those are coming next

In my opinion happiness is not a goal but a state subject to change. I stopped looking for happiness and started to train contentness. Being satisfied with something less than optimal will make you feel much better over time. Sometimes things will go sideways independently of your control. You can be all stoic about that and pretend it doesn't faze you; in my experience it's better to find and focus on the little things that make life more bearable, like preparing a hot meal after a shitty day instead of crashing on the sofa and conteplate the injustice of life.

Spot on

I think there might be some communalities with system engineering, where you subtract the output from the input in order to get a control signal that steers the plant to the target values. I too fail to see how that would be supposed to work in practice.

There must be some process similar to carcinization that pushes Toyota hyluxes to transform into Technicals over time.

No, you just happen to live in a country that censors the internet. When I travel to countries like that, I use a VPN to read the news

dont think so, its an alternative URL of archive.today [0]

its also blocked in progressive democracies such as Russia and China

wtf kind of doublespeak is "progressive democracies"

it's a joke

Ahhh the classic 'CP' FUD.
