Isn't usage of Spivak pronouns itself a form of meta-contrarianism? (gender-biased / gender-neutral / Spivak)

The author isn't suggesting that something being meta-contrarian actually makes it wrong...

To fit the pattern, it would have to swing back the other direction, not go further in the same direction.

For example: gender-biased / spivak / conspicuously using traditional pronouns in a context where they're assumed to be gender neutral.

What's wrong with "it"? It's gender neutral. Life neutral, even, can't get more neutral than that.
